Netflix recently reported that it currently has more than 200 million subscribers worldwide, of which 8.5 million new users joined Netflix in the last quarter of 2020. In addition, there was an increase in revenue by 21% to US $6.6 billion, even though the profits they earned in the fourth quarter were lower, specifically US $587 million compared to 2019 which reached US $542 million. Netflix also said that even though their number of users had grown considerably, 2020 was still a very difficult year. The reason is that they have to impose restrictions that have never been experienced before. “2020 is a difficult year where many people have lost their families, new restrictions that have never been experienced before and great uncertainty regarding when this pandemic will end,” wrote Netflix quoted from Ubergizmo. Apart from Netflix, other movie streaming services like Disney + are also seeing an increase in subscribers.
