In addition to presenting a new visual display as well as several features, Microsoft also announced a new feature that they presented in Windows 11 Insider Preview, i.e Dynamic Refresh Rate (DRR). Currently, many monitors and laptop screens come with high refresh rates. But using a high refresh rate increases power consumption. Therefore, the Dynamic Refresh Rate feature is here so that the Windows 11 operating system can adjust the refresh rate displayed on the screen depending on the activities carried out by the user. So for example, if a user is viewing a photo or typing a document for an email, then this DRR feature will adjust the screen refresh rate to 60Hz so it doesn’t take up a lot of power. However, if the user is playing games or watching videos with a high refresh rate, then this DRR feature will increase the screen refresh rate to be as high as possible depending on the screen support. But it seems that to enable this feature, users must also have a GPU that supports dynamic refresh rate. That’s why not all devices will be able to take advantage of this feature in Windows 11 Insider Preview.
