Citing Gadget360, Xiaomi’s Vice President and General Manager of Redmi, Lu Weibing, announced that the Redmi K20 Pro stopped being produced this month. The move was somewhat surprising because the smartphone has not completed a full year of product cycles. However, the cessation of production is also a sign that Xiaomi is soon releasing the Redmi K30 Pro. In an upload on the Weibo social media account, Weibing mentioned that Xiaomi has so far sent more than 5 million Redmi K20 Pro units globally. However, production of the well-received device will be stopped in February. Redmi K20 Pro was officially launched in China at the end of May last year, which means that the smartphone has about three months before completing the standard 12-month cycle for a flagship device. However, the Weibo upload does not clarify whether the termination of the Redmi K20 Pro later this month is limited to China, or whether it will be implemented simultaneously in other markets as well, including Nigeria. On the other hand, the termination of the Redmi K20 Pro also means the presence of its successor, the Redmi K30 Pro, in the near future. In accordance with the previous leak, Xiaomi will launch the Redmi K30 Pro in March. As per Geekbench’s leak, the Redmi K30 Pro will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 which is paired with 8GB of RAM. The upcoming superior Redmi device will be equipped with a quad-camera on the back with a 64MP main camera with Sony IMX686 sensor.
